About the Author
My Story:
My name is Falena. For a long time, my life felt like a blur—a series of moments I survived but couldn’t always piece together. From a childhood marked by confusion and a lack of safety to the challenges of navigating life as the “black sheep,” I have walked through seasons that would have broken me if not for a strength I didn’t know I possessed.
I grew up seeing the world through “huge keyholes” and feeling the heat of the “straight sun,” wondering where I fit in. But I also grew up seeing my mother’s grace and my father’s quiet strength. Even when I felt lost, those roots remained.
The Turning Point:
Healing wasn’t a single moment; it was a choice I had to make every day. I began to journal to clear the “clutter” from my mind—the voices of people who tried to destroy my spirit and the memories that kept me bound. Through writing, I realized that my worth wasn’t defined by what had been done to me, but by who God says I am.
My Mission:
Today, I stand as a survivor, a mother, and a woman of unshakable faith. I have been blessed with a family that loves me unconditionally—a family that God brought into my life exactly when I was ready to receive them.
I share my journey, Setting Myself Free, not just to tell my story, but to be a voice for those who are still waiting for their own dawn. I believe that no matter how deep the shadows of your past are, there is a “new level of blessing” waiting for you.
Why I Write:
To Heal: To turn the “blur” of trauma into a clear path of peace.
To Honor: To remember the resilience of those who came before me.
To Help: To stand with others in the same situation and remind them: You deserve to be whole.
